Peace Silver Dollars
Minted to commemorate the end of WWI
Many of our collectors love Silver Dollars. Most get started collecting Morgan Silver Dollars 1878-1921 or American Eagles. However, one of the most overlooked and most interesting of all genuine U.S. Silver Dollars are the "Peace" dollars.
After World War I, public sentiment favored creating a silver dollar commemorating the end of war. In early 1921, a design was chosen by Anthony De Francisi with the front depicting a modern art deco Liberty Head with a crown of rays. On the reverse, a bold, majestic eagle rests on a mountaintop. In his talons, he clutches a laurel wreath, a symbol of America's desire for peace.
